Description

Ever imagined what heaven would be like?

This nineteenth century classic by Rebecca Ruter Springer is her vision of what heaven is like. The beauty that is portrayed in this wonderful masterpiece is an imperfect sketch of a most perfect vision.

Rebecca Ruter Springer was inspired to write My Dream of Heaven, originally titled Intra Muros, when she became ill. During Rebecca Springer’s nineteenth-century lifetime, many were pierced by doubt about the afterlife. People searched for proof that their loved ones still lived. Springer’s story continues to accomplish her goal to offer hope and comfort to those searching for answers.

The words of the author best sets the stage for this beautiful treasure which contains two missing chapters that have not appeared in print in more than 100 years.

“The pages of this little volume contain on fancy sketch, written to while away an idle hour; but are the true, though greatly condensed, record of an experience during days when life hung in the balance between Time and Eternity, with the scales dipping decidedly toward the Eternity side.”

My Dream of Heaven is a timeless classic that will inspire you with new confidence and excitement about an eternal home and reunion with loved ones gone on before.

About The Author:
Rebecca Ruter Springer (1832-1904) wrote My Dream of Heaven, originally entitled Intra Muros, as a result of an inspiration she had when she was ill. The story itself presents it as a vision. Her subtitle presents it as a dream. She herself said that is was not meant to be taken with the weight of the prophetic, but that she felt it had been sent to comfort with an idea of heaven in a general way. She took the dream and turned it into a story that has comforted many in their grief since 1898 when it was first published. Springer was a Methodist writer who also wrote other works: Beechwood Self, Songs by the Sea, Leon, and others.

During Rebecca Springer’s nineteenth-century lifetime, many Christians were pierced by doubt about the afterlife. Many of them succumbed to going to spiritualist seances in an effort to find proof that their loved ones still lived. In response to this need, many Christians of Rebecca Springer’s time wrote stories and descriptions of heaven using what clues they could pick up from the Bible to give a reason for the hope they had. Some of these took the market by storm after the Civil War as bestsellers. Coming at the end of this post- Civil War rage, Springer’s book sold well and continued to sell steadily through the twentieth century. It has stood the test of time had has become a classic. Harrison House Publisher’s My Dreams of Heaven is the only unabridged version of Springer’s classic available and restores two chapters missing from other editions.
