The scriptures indicate that Jesus was led into the wilderness in the fullness of the Spirit but came out of that testing place in the power of the Spirit. Clearly something in God was established in those encounters with the devil that was immediately recognizable by His synagogue audience: They were amazed at the “gracious words which were falling from His lips.”
The author examines the necessary progression in our Christian life without which we will never be able to open the “synagogue scrolls” of our localities and speak with the grace and power that alone gives testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus.
